The Alliance FFA chapter has started off the school year with an explosion of activities.

During Alliance’s Annual Heritage Days, the local chapter entered a float in the parade, receiving first place.  They also hosted the Backwards Tractor Pull.  Instead of having tractors pull weight, a team of six was timed as they pulled an antique tractor to the finish line.  Several teams competed.   

At the Nebraska State Fair, Alliance was represented by four members.  Alyssa Dye displayed a range board recceiving a blue ribbon.  Bryce Vaughn exhibited dry edible beans receiving a purple ribbon.  Shea Henderson showed three sheep and received a blue ribbon for each, a purple carcass.  Brittany Andersen showed three swine receiving two red ribbons a one blue, a purple carcass. 

District Impact was held in Scottsbluff on Sept 3, twenty Alliance members attended.  One of the highlights was having the opportunity to see Blake Becker, state FFA Officer from Alliance, as one of the presentors. 
A Range Judging contest was held on September 16, 2008 in Box Butte County.  Those who competed are: Brittany Anderson – 10th, Nicole Dunovsky – 17th, and Alyssa Dye – 25th.

In September other activities included Burning the A for homecoming, building a homecoming float, working concessions, cleaning stadium and having a new members picnic.   New members include Brandon Duffey, Dion Gibson, Dylan Schnell, Brett Schwaderer, Frankee Hopes, Garrett Lower, Kevin Galinsky, Miranda McDonald, Kelby Nelson, Sean Sward, Annalese Placek, Dillio Rich, Nevin Prince and Denielle Bennett.

On October 14, the chapter participated in an Adopt-A-Highway Project.  They picked up trash along a near highway for two miles.

October 15 a presentation by the Nebraska Transportation Safety Center was given to classes.  Over 100 students attended the presentation.

Five FFA members attended the National FFA Convention:  Sage Henderson, Katherine Aby, Hayley Loch, Brittany Andersen and Alyssa Dye.

Members are now preparing for the Greenhand & Chapter Degree Ceremony in November and the Leadership Skill Events competition in December, as well as the upcoming fruit sales. 

The 2008-2009 chapter officers are: President Bryce Vaughn, Vice-President Spencer Rowley, Secretary Sage Henderson, Treasurer Brittany Andersen,  Reporter Katherine Aby, Historian Alyssa Dye, Sentinel Brodrick Nickens, Parliamentarian Kyle Coleman, Jr. Advisor Hayley Loch and Lori Walla Advisor.
