On June 2nd, the Wheeler Central FFA Chapter picked up trash along Highway 281 north of Bartlett. The chapter walks the highway ditches every year. The FFA has “adopted” the highway two miles north of Bartlett.

On June 24th, the Wheeler Central FFA Chapter picked up flowers at the Bartlett cemetery. This was the second year that the chapter has done this event. With the flowers picked up, it is easier to mow the grass and keep the cemetery looking neat and clean.

The Wheeler Central FFA Chapter gathered the evening of July 3rd to brain storm ideas for their float that would be in the 4th of July parade in Ericson. After all agreed on an idea, and who had the supplies to make the float, the members went home for the night. The next morning, the FFA members met at the Methodist church in Ericson to decorate the float.

The Wheeler Central FFA members gathered July 13th to go tanking down the Cedar River. The group met at the bridge west of Ericson to launch their tanks and tubes. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful day and had a great time. After the group had made it down the river safely, they met at Katie Swett’s house to eat a wonderful meal.

On July 24th, the members of the Wheeler Central FFA attended a Livestock Judging contest in Burwell following the GLW District Livestock Show. The Burwell FFA Chapter brought in six classes of livestock for the contest. It was a bit warm sitting in the bleachers, but it was a nice contest to star the year off with.
Wheeler Central FFA Chapter members met at the school on July 30th to prepare their range and welding boards for the Wheeler Count Fair. Once members found their boards they cleaned them up and place their prepared range plants and welds on each. The boards were completed with labels for each weld and plant.
The Wheeler County Fair was July 31st through August 3rd and the Wheeler Central FFA members were busy with their projects. To start the fair off on Thursday the 31st, members took their range and welding boards to the exhibit hall to be judged. The chapter had members exhibiting sheep, swine, dairy, goats and beef.
The livestock show was Saturday morning. The day started with the swine show, followed by the beef, dairy cattle, dairy goats, sheep and market goats. Sunday the chapter had their annual work a day auction, which went very well and a big thank you to everyone who supported the chapter. Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful job!
On September 24th the Wheeler Central FFA Chapter competed at the area Range Judging. This year the area range judging was held at Battle Creek. The bus left Bartlett at 8:!5 that morning headed for Battle Creek.
It was a good contest in many ways. This was a challenging contest for some as they had duplicate plants on the plant line and the soil was a little bit tricky. Following the contest the group went into Norfolk to eat lunch and check out the sights.
